Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has revealed that she left Islam and embraced Christianity following what she described as a miraculous recovery from a prolonged illness that left her bedridden for nearly nine years.
Speaking about her experience, the actress said the decision to change her faith came after surviving multiple near-death episodes during the course of her illness, which she believes marked a turning point in her life. According to her, the recovery was not only physical but also deeply spiritual, prompting her to dedicate her life to serving Jesus Christ.
Abubakar explained that the experience reshaped her perspective and strengthened her conviction that she had been given a second chance at life. She said this realization inspired her to publicly declare her new faith and share her testimony.

“I’m a brand new person now. I have given my life to Christ. I want to serve God because He has helped me. I almost died. They almost killed me. This is not about movies; this is about restoration and testimony. Halima Abubakar is back, big and better,” she said.
The actress added that she is now focused on spiritual service and evangelism, stating that she feels called to spread the gospel following what she described as divine healing.
“Right now, I’m ready to serve God because He wants me to. He has delivered me, so I need to serve Him and preach His gospel to the people,” she added.
She also disclosed plans to share a more detailed account of her recovery, including how she believes Queen Belemzy Ministries (School of Power) played a role in her healing journey.
Her announcement has since attracted widespread reactions, with fans and colleagues expressing support and congratulating her on what many described as a significant personal transformation.
Abubakar noted that she is leaving behind years of pain, uncertainty, and hardship as she embraces a new chapter centered on faith, healing, and restoration, signaling a fresh start both personally and spiritually.
