Nigerian-American actress, Idia Aisien, has revealed that she used to spend millions of naira financially supporting her past romantic partners, only to experience a painful betrayal when one ex-lover used her money to fund a secret vacation with another woman.

The Nneka: The Pretty Serpent star shared these details during a recent appearance on the Toke’s Moment podcast, where she opened up about her past approach to dating and how her generosity was ultimately taken advantage of.

Aisien explained that her willingness to fund her partners stemmed from a genuine desire to build a future together and a belief in mutual reciprocity. Because she was dating with the intention of marriage, she freely offered financial assistance whenever her boyfriends claimed to be struggling.

“I used to spend money on guys. If they complained that their business wasn’t doing well, I would give them a couple of millions.

“At the time, I was dating to marry, so I didn’t want my partner to struggle; I tried to help when he was trying to invest in something,” Aisien stated during the interview.

She added, “I believed that if you help a guy in the beginning, later when he’s better, he will help you in return, and that how you treat him is how he will eventually treat you.”

The actress recounted a specific incident that challenged her philosophy. After giving an ex-boyfriend a significant amount of money to help revive his supposedly failing business, he suddenly became unreachable.

“There was an ex I gave money to when he said his business was down. Later, his phone suddenly stopped going through, but I later found out he had flown a popular girl to Dubai,” she revealed.

The secret trip was exposed when Aisien’s brother spotted the couple and sent her photographic evidence. When she finally confronted the ex-boyfriend, he offered conflicting excuses to justify his actions.

“He insisted his phone was having issues, but one of my brothers told me they saw him with another woman and even had picture evidence. When I confronted him, he first said it was his friends who forced him to go on the trip, then later claimed it was also for business,” Aisien recalled.

Idia Aisien began her acting career in 2017 but skyrocketed to widespread prominence in 2020 after landing the lead role in the remake of the 1994 classic Nollywood horror-mystery film, Nneka: The Pretty Serpent.
