Kola Onifoto, a well-known Nigerian documentary photographer and travel enthusiast, has tragically died following a lone motorcycle accident on the outskirts of Lagos.
Born Orowole Kolapoz, the 32-year-old brand influencer was reportedly involved in the crash on Sunday while undertaking what he described as his first solo motorcycle journey outside of Lagos state.
Just hours before the fatal accident, Onifoto, who was widely recognized for his deep passion for biking and travel, took to his Facebook page to share his excitement about riding his bike to Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
In his post, he expressed admiration for seasoned riders, writing, “Big shoutout to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa and across the world, especially women.”
Tragically, friends later revealed online that he had been involved in a collision while returning to Lagos around the Kara axis.
He was initially rushed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) emergency unit in Ojota before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba.
Despite an outpouring of prayers and support from friends, followers, and well-wishers on social media, Onifoto succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday.
The 32-year-old had only recently announced his entry into the biking community. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on January 15, 2026, he proudly declared his new status, stating: “I recently became a new biker. One of my life dreams clocked and achieved! I won’t fall and die on this -Amen!”
The news of his sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the creative and biking communities, with friends, colleagues, and fans flooding social media with emotional tributes mourning the loss of the vibrant and talented photographer.
