The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Mirabel, a TikTok user who recently claimed she was raped in her residence, is now officially in police custody as investigations into her allegations continue.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development to TheCable Lifestyle on Friday, stating, “We have her, she is well and with us, investigation is ongoing.”

Mirabel first sparked widespread concern online after posting a series of distressing videos on TikTok, alleging she was sexually assaulted at her home on February 15. The viral videos quickly prompted a response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

Initially, the DSVA acknowledged the incident and attempted to reach out to the young woman. However, in a follow-up statement on Wednesday, the agency clarified that because the incident allegedly took place in Ogun State, it fell outside of their legal jurisdiction.

The DSVA confirmed that all relevant information had been handed over to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State to oversee the investigation.

The narrative surrounding the case soon became muddled when rumors circulated on social media that Mirabel had been arrested.

Unverified posts claimed that investigators found inconsistencies in her story, citing a lack of evidence of forced entry and no corroborating witness accounts from neighbors.

Reacting to these claims on Thursday, Babaseyi initially clarified that Mirabel had not been arrested.

He explained that she voluntarily visited the police station to report the alleged incident. He further noted that due to her medical condition at the time, police could not conduct a formal interrogation, and she was instead placed under medical supervision.

However, the case took a dramatic turn hours later when controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan released an audio recording online.

In the unverified audio, a voice alleged to be Mirabel’s confessed to fabricating the rape story. The voice in the recording claimed she had engaged in self-harm, cutting herself with a razor due to severe depression following the end of a relationship six months prior.

Following the release of the audio and mounting online speculation, Police PRO Babaseyi confirmed to the press that Mirabel is now formally in police custody as authorities work to unravel the truth behind the conflicting claims.
