Popular Nigerian music star, Chike, has publicly accused a woman identified as Chioma Nneoma Ochibili of defrauding him of $20,000 in what he describes as a non-existent business venture.
The ‘Boo of the Booless’ hitmaker took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday morning to detail his ordeal, expressing frustration that he had fallen victim to an alleged scam and warning others not to make the same mistake.
In a series of posts, Chike explained that he invested $20,000 into a business proposed by Ochibili, only to discover later that the venture was a sham.
He claimed that the total sum involved in the scheme amounted to $50,000, out of which his $20,000 of “hard-earned money” had vanished.
“Chioma Nneoma Ochibili, so you are a thief. That’s how they do. They will tell you they are doing certain business. Her business is to survive on your money?” the singer tweeted.
“$50,000 in the air. $20,000 of my hard-earned money I didn’t see either. How do I find out this late that I’m just another person she has duped? Even me I dey laugh myself,” he added.
Chike emphasized that the core issue was not a failed business deal, but outright fraud, stating that the business Ochibili pitched to him simply did not exist. He further implied that he was not her first victim.
“Whatever business chioma sells to you is not the issue. The big issue here is that the business does not even exist which then equates to fraud. Also, you will not be the 1st,” he warned his followers.
He urged anyone considering doing business with her to back out immediately, posting a picture of her with a warning.
“If you know this girl. And she has your money. Ask her for it. Just try. If you on the pipeline to give her your money, run oooooo. Don’t do it,” he revealed.
The singer clarified that his public outcry was not primarily about recovering the lost funds, which he noted he is already pursuing through other avenues, but rather a public service announcement to protect potential victims capable of parting with such large sums.
“These tweets are also not about fund recovery. I am well on the way to making sure that’s done regardless of Chioma’s gimmicks.
“If you know chioma like i have come to know her, though late, then you will understand that doing any sort of business with her is at your own risk,” he stated.
As of the time of reporting, Chioma Nneoma Ochibili has not publicly responded to the singer’s allegations.
