Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has publicly expressed her disappointment after being excluded from the nomination list for the upcoming 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Shortly after the official list was unveiled on Sunday, the film star took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice her initial frustration, simply tweeting, “Amvca SMH.”
In a subsequent follow-up post on Monday, Afegbai elaborated on her feelings regarding the snub, emphasizing that her worth and talent as an actress are not defined by awards.
She stated that she firmly believes “everything happens for a reason” and expressed confidence in the quality of her recent work.
The actress specifically highlighted her standout performance in the critically acclaimed movie ‘To Kill A Monkey’, where she portrayed the character Idia.
Afegbai argued that her acting in the film was outstanding and garnered widespread recognition and organic support from fans.
“I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason. I don’t need a nomination for validation,” she wrote.
Asserting the impact of her role, she added, “The truth is clear: nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100%.”
Concluding her defiant message to the award organizers, she wrote: “You guys can eat your award.”
