Nigerian actress, Kemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, has vehemently dismissed allegations that she traded sexual favors to secure movie roles, asserting that her rise in the Nollywood industry is the result of hard work and grit, not “bedroom deals.”

The actress issued the rebuttal on Thursday following social media rumors that surfaced amidst renewed tension between actor Austine Emmanuel and his longtime rival, Ibrahim ‘Itele’ Yekini.

As fans took sides in the dispute, a social media user dragged Kemity into the fray, alleging she was romantically involved with Itele and had a history of using her body to advance her career.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared as a “Throwback Thursday” reflection, Kemity set the record straight, detailing her journey to stardom and her financial independence prior to fame.

“I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity,” she wrote.

To buttress her point, the mother of two revealed that she was already an entrepreneur before breaking into the limelight.

“Before I even met my boss, I already had two wine shops where I was selling wine. I worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo,” she explained.

Kemity highlighted her career trajectory, noting that she transitioned from acting to makeup artistry to fund her passion before eventually returning to the screen.

She emphasized that nothing was handed to her on a silver platter.

“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting, my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she stated.

Describing herself as a “child of a churchwoman,” the actress maintained that her reputation remains unsullied and challenged anyone to prove otherwise.

“My name is clean. No one — and I mean no one — can ever come out boldly to say I used my body to collect anything from him,” she added.

The forceful denial aims to shut down speculation regarding her integrity as she continues to build her legacy in the Nigerian film industry.
