Gunmen have killed at least 30 villagers during a coordinated attack on a rural community in northern Nigeria, security sources and local residents confirmed on Friday.
The attackers reportedly stormed the village in the early hours of the morning, firing sporadically and setting houses ablaze. Several residents were abducted during the raid, while others fled into surrounding bushes for safety.
Survivors described the incident as swift and brutal, saying the assailants arrived on motorcycles and operated for several hours without resistance. The motive for the attack remains unclear, though authorities suspect armed bandits.

Security agencies have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, deploying troops and surveillance assets to the area. The state government condemned the attack and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
Community leaders called on the federal government to strengthen security presence in rural areas, where attacks have become increasingly frequent.
The incident adds to the growing security challenges facing northern Nigeria, where banditry, kidnapping, and communal violence have displaced thousands of residents.
