Reality TV star, Saskay, has publicly criticized the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for celebrating the defection of Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while seemingly ignoring the recent deaths of Nigerian soldiers.

The controversy began when Governor Lawal, alongside his deputy Mani Mummuni, announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, citing lingering internal crises within the opposition party.

Lawal stated that the switch to the APC was a collective decision by stakeholders aimed at sustaining the “Zamfara rescue and rebuild mission.”

Reacting to the defection, Matawalle, who preceded Lawal as the governor of Zamfara, took to X (formerly Twitter) to warmly welcome his successor to the ruling party.

Matawalle hailed the political move as “a historic moment” that would unify the state and advance President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.

“Today marks a historic moment in the political history of our state and our dear nation as we welcome a friend and brother, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency, @daudalawal_, into our great party, the APC.

“Governor Dauda is now part of a progressive family. Therefore, we warmly welcome him into this fold so that we can support him and work together with all our strengths to ensure a more secure, safe, and prosperous Zamfara State,” Matawalle wrote.

However, former Big Brother Naija housemate Saskay took serious issue with the minister’s characterization of the event as “historic,” especially in light of recent military casualties.

Just days prior, three Nigerian soldiers were tragically killed during a fierce gun battle with bandits in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Quoting Matawalle’s post on X, the Adamawa-born reality star blasted the minister for his lack of public empathy regarding the fallen troops.

She warned that the government’s perceived apathy toward the sacrifices of the military and the safety of citizens would not be forgotten.

“No! The death of Nigerian soldiers and military commanders fighting terrorists and your lack of dignity with as little as a statement, marks a historic moment,” Saskay wrote.

She further added a stark warning: “When the revolution starts, we will remember how little you all cared about citizens!”
