Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on Monday expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election is “a done deal,” praising the administration’s emphasis on youth empowerment and long-term governance.

Speaking in Abuja during a meeting with members of the Abia State chapter of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu youth group led by Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, Kalu described the President as a “youth-friendly leader” who has deliberately nurtured young talent. “If you take a good look at the composition of his team, you will find the best brains harvested from the youth population of our country,” he said.

Kalu emphasized that Tinubu’s focus is on legacy rather than popularity. “It takes a man who understands the Nigeria of tomorrow to begin to invest in the leaders that will take care of that tomorrow,” he added.

He described the City Boy Movement as more than an electoral tool, noting its role in preparing future leaders. “Batons are not handed over to those who are sitting as spectators, only those who are in the race will receive the baton,” Kalu warned.

Highlighting infrastructure achievements in the Federal Capital Territory under Minister Nyesom Wike, Kalu said physical projects had strengthened grassroots campaigns in recent elections. He also mentioned his support group, Renewed Hope Partners, which plans to collaborate with the City Boy Movement.

Igbokwe said the youth group sought a formal partnership with Kalu’s office to advance shared initiatives and presented him with the movement’s flag and cap.

This interaction underscores the APC’s strategy of engaging youth networks and emphasizing governance accomplishments ahead of the 2027 polls.
