Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has cautioned new mothers against bathing their newborns every day, warning that frequent baths could harm delicate baby skin.
In a video shared on her social media page, the actress, who recently welcomed her first child at 40, explained that babies are naturally clean. She emphasized that the womb they come from is not dirty, making daily baths unnecessary.
“Babies are naturally clean. You don’t have to bathe them every day; too much washing can damage their skin,” Toke said.

The media personality’s advice aligns with pediatric recommendations that newborns only need sponge baths a few times a week, except when necessary, to protect their sensitive skin.
Toke’s post has sparked discussions among parents and followers, many praising her for sharing practical insights from her own parenting experience.
Her message serves as a reminder that sometimes, less is more when caring for a newborn.
