President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned businessman and political ally, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, describing his passing as a significant loss to Kano State and the nation at large. The President said Abdulaziz’s influence on commerce and public life extended far beyond Kano, touching many parts of Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased, the Kano business community, and associates who benefitted from Abdulaziz’s leadership and mentorship. The President noted that the late businessman died over the weekend, leaving behind a legacy of enterprise, patriotism, and service.

Tinubu recalled the crucial support he received from Abdulaziz during the 2023 presidential campaigns, describing him as a dependable ally who believed strongly in Nigeria’s unity and progress. According to the President, Abdulaziz stood out not only for his business acumen but also for his commitment to national development and democratic ideals.

“President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of renowned businessman and leader of the business community in Kano, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz,” the statement said. “The President described his death as a loss felt beyond the Kano business community but across many parts of Nigeria in view of the deceased’s influence on commerce.”

The President praised Abdulaziz for his spirit of patriotism, noting that he consistently used his resources and networks to support initiatives aimed at economic growth, political stability, and social cohesion. Tinubu added that the late businessman was widely respected for his generosity and willingness to support causes that promoted peace and prosperity.

Beyond politics, Abdulaziz was recognised as a leading figure in Kano’s commercial sector, where he played a key role in strengthening trade and supporting emerging entrepreneurs. His influence, according to the Presidency, helped bridge regional and sectoral divides, earning him respect across business and political circles nationwide.

Tinubu urged Abdulaziz’s family and associates to take solace in the positive impact he made during his lifetime, describing his contributions as enduring and worthy of remembrance. He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.

The President concluded by affirming that Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz would be remembered as a nation-builder whose life and work left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s business and political landscape.
