The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a Caretaker Committee to oversee the administration of its affairs in Abia State, following approval from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The move, aligned with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), aims to ensure effective leadership and coordination of party activities in the state.

In a statement released on Monday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, announced the members of the committee. Mr. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow was appointed Chairman, while Chief Ochiobi Fidel Chukwuemeka, Engr. Gladys Okoro, Chief Chijindu Kalu, Samuel Chukwudi Mike, Seth Agomuo, Mrs. Ugo Kalu, and Obinna Nwaogwugwu were named members. Felix Nwagbara was appointed as Secretary of the committee.
The PDP described the committee’s formation as a strategic step to maintain unity, strengthen party structures, and coordinate preparations for forthcoming political activities in Abia State.
The National Publicity Secretary urged party members in the state to cooperate with the Caretaker Committee to ensure smooth operations and continuity of the party’s agenda.
This development comes amid ongoing efforts by the PDP to consolidate its presence and enhance internal democracy across its state chapters nationwide.
