A married woman, Funmilola Osundare has landed in the hospital after her boyfriend suspected to be a ritualist macheted her in Akure.

The unfortunate incident occurred at her boyfriend’s rented apartment in ljapo, GRA, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

It was learnt that the woman was saved by neighbours who heard her screams. The attack however led to her sustaining varying degrees of cuts on different parts of her body.

The boyfriend who is said to be a footballer allegedly took the victim to the apartment he moved into three days before the ugly incident.

According to sources, the attack happened around midnight but her distress call attracted the neighbours who invited the regional security outfit, Amotekun, but the suspect fled.

The victim was rushed to the Police Clinic for treatment where she was rejected and referred to the University of Medical Sciences, Teaching Hospital, Akure.

Executive Secretary of the State Agency Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (OSAA-GBV), Bar. Mrs Bola Joel-Ogundadegbe said she notified the First Lady, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu of the incident after being informed by the police.

Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu then ordered that the victim be taken to a hospital for immediate treatment, adding that she will settle the bills.

Joel-Ogundadegbe said that “the victim was on oxygen in the Trauma centre Ondo and back to life, but yet to regain consciousness and strength to talk.”

According to her, Funmilola needed to be referred to the Federal Medical Centre so a neurosurgeon can examine her due to the deep wound on her head.
