A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted N500 million bail to Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, over allegations of a N110 billion fraud.

Justice Maryann Anenih approved the bail application on Thursday, but on the condition that Bello must provide three sureties, each with landed properties in prime areas of the FCT, including Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi.

The sureties must also submit two passport photographs each and provide valid means of identification, including their National Identification Number (NIN).

The former governor faces charges of violating sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, punishable under section 312 of the same law. This development comes on the heels of another case involving alleged money laundering of N80 billion, for which Bello was granted bail by a federal high court in Abuja just last week.
