Morocco’s Brahim Díaz has emerged as the leading goal scorer at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), topping the chart with five goals as the tournament enters its decisive semi-final stage.
Díaz moved clear at the summit of the scorers’ table following the conclusion of the quarter-final matches, placing him one goal ahead of Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who has scored four goals so far in the competition. The Moroccan attacker’s impressive form has been central to his country’s strong run in the tournament.
Nigeria sealed their place in the semi-finals on Saturday evening with a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria, a result that ended the North Africans’ campaign and kept the Super Eagles firmly in contention for the title. Osimhen, who has been Nigeria’s main attacking threat, remains within striking distance of Díaz in the race for the Golden Boot.
Other players still in contention include Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Mali’s Lassine Sinayoko, Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez and Ivory Coast’s Amad Diallo, all of whom have scored three goals each.

With the semi-finals set to deliver high-profile clashes, attention is expected to intensify on the individual scoring race as much as on the quest for continental glory.
Analysts say Díaz’s consistency in front of goal has made Morocco one of the most dangerous attacking sides in the competition, while Nigeria’s attacking depth gives Osimhen strong support as he continues his pursuit.
As the tournament nears its climax, the battle for the Golden Boot remains wide open, with just a few goals likely to separate the top contenders.
