Six persons were in broad daylight killed by bandits when they attacked a weekly market at Yar Bulutu in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State on Monday.

The incident, according to a source, happened around 12:30pm in the afternoon when the bandits attacked the people who were busy buying and selling in the market and shot sporadically in all directions.

Sa’idu Ibrahim, a member representing Sabon Birni South at the State House of Assembly said the source claimed the bandits came to the market on about 20 motorcycles each carrying three persons and shot sporadically numbering about ninety (90) who carried out the deadly attack, Adaeventsnews gathered.

The source further explained, “First they went to where the mobile policemen who were guiding the market were stationed. They killed two of them and set one of their vehicles on fire.”

According to the source, the bandits later killed another policeman who ran into the bush, dragged his body from the bush and throw it into the burning vehicle, they reportedly also killed three other persons in the market and injured several others with different degrees of wounds.

Right now, he said that he is with a brother at Orthopaedic hospital in Wamakko, who was shot in the leg by the attackers and is receiving treatment.
He alleged that the attack was carried out by bandits who fled sustained military onslaught in Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna states and are pouring their anger on the villagers.
