India’s Annu Rani, a national record holder, marked a best throw of 55.81m in the women’s javelin throw qualification round at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Wednesday.
In her three attempts, Rani logged 55.81m, 53.22m and 53.55m at the Stade de France, resulting in a 15th-placed finish in Group A.
As she did not breach the qualification standard of 62.00m or finish at least among the top 12 athletes overall, Rani will not feature in the women’s javelin throw final at Paris 2024.

Annu Rani (IND) finished 15th in Group B of the women’s javelin throw qualification round and failed to make the final.
Annu Rani, an Indian javelin thrower, suffered a loss on Wednesday at the Olympics after a lackluster effort that prevented her from moving on past the qualification stage.
The 31-year-old national record holder succeeded in throwing a best of 55.81 meters, but was unsuccessful in her next two efforts at 53.22 and 53.55 meters. She placed 15th in Group A and 26th overall.
The best of Annu Rani’s current season is 60.68 meters, and her national record is 63.82 meters.
