The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has applauded the efforts of Governor Aminu Bello Masari in combating banditry and insecurity in Katsina State.

Lai Mohammed, who was in Katsina on a one-day working visit on Tuesday, said he was in the state with his team to learn how the governor is winning the war against banditry and other crimes in the state, adaeventsnews gathered.

“Your Excellency, we are here to hear from you, first hand, the novel and bold measures you are taking to combat the menace of banditry and terrorism in Katsina State.

“We are not in any doubt that some of the measures that you have embarked upon have started yielding fruits,” Lai said

However, the minister said it is unfortunate that the media are not given sufficient coverage to show how Governor Masari and his other northern counterparts have turned the table against bandits in the North.

Mr. Lai urged other states to emulate the strategies employed by the Katsina Governor and his counterparts to cripple the activities of bandits across the country.

“However, Your Excellency, it is unfortunate that the media is not giving the same attention to the turn of events as they have been given to the activities of the bandits.

“We believe these efforts should be trumpeted as a way of encouraging the states involved, the security agencies that have been risking it all to ensure that we are all safe,” Lai added.

Since the implementation of the executive orders to contain the security challenges experienced in Katsina and other neighbouring states, there have been a serious clampdown on their activities by security operatives leading to the arrest and neutralisation of many of the criminals.

Similarly, several victims of kidnap are being rescued daily from the bandits’ den.
