Galatasaray’s plans for two major October fixtures have been thrown into focus as Turkish journalist Nevzat Dindar provided an update on the recovery of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen and midfielder Mario Lemina.

Both players are currently recovering from groin injuries and have been absent from several of Galatasaray’s recent matches.

Their fitness has become a major talking point ahead of the club’s upcoming Turkish Super Lig meeting with Kasımpaşa and its UEFA Champions League encounter with Barcelona.

Galatasaray are scheduled to face Kasımpaşa on October 9 before travelling into another demanding fixture against Barcelona in the Champions League on October 13.

Dindar’s latest update has provided fresh attention on whether Osimhen and Lemina will be available for either of those matches.

Osimhen has been an important attacking figure for Galatasaray since joining the Turkish club, while Lemina provides experience and physical presence in the midfield.

Their simultaneous absence has therefore created an additional selection challenge for Galatasaray as the club navigates a demanding stretch of its campaign.

The injury setback also meant neither player featured in Galatasaray’s weekend encounter against Trabzonspor.

Galatasaray suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat in that match, increasing the attention on the club’s injury situation and the potential return of key players.

For Osimhen, the recovery period is particularly significant given his role in Galatasaray’s attacking plans. The Nigerian forward is known for his pace, movement and ability to threaten opposing defences, qualities that have made him a prominent figure in the Turkish side’s forward line.

His return could therefore provide another option to the coaching staff as Galatasaray prepare for two fixtures that will demand different tactical approaches.

Lemina’s potential comeback would also strengthen the midfield options available to the club.

However, the precise availability of both players for the October fixtures remains dependent on their recovery and subsequent assessment by Galatasaray’s medical and technical teams.

The club will be expected to monitor their progress closely rather than risk an early return that could aggravate either injury.

The timing of their recoveries is particularly important because the Kasımpaşa fixture comes only four days before the Champions League meeting with Barcelona.

That short interval could also influence decisions over how quickly either player is reintroduced to competitive action.

A gradual return through training before full match involvement could become part of Galatasaray’s approach if the players are cleared to resume activity.

The Barcelona fixture adds another layer of interest to Osimhen’s recovery because of the scale of the European opposition and the importance of attacking depth in Champions League football.

For now, Galatasaray’s immediate priority will be establishing whether the Nigerian striker and Lemina can return to team training without setbacks.

Dindar’s update has placed their recovery timelines under renewed scrutiny, but the final decision on their participation will depend on their medical condition and readiness when the fixtures approach.

Until then, Galatasaray must prepare for Kasımpaşa and Barcelona while continuing to manage the absence of two players recovering from groin injuries.
