As the tenure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) ends on Tuesday, December 9, the party has constituted a 13-member National Caretaker Committee to manage its affairs pending a national convention.

The decision was made at the 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, December 7. Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed was appointed Chairman, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as Secretary.

Other members of the Caretaker Committee include National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar M. Bature, Dr. Kyari Grema, Hon. Janguda Haruna Mohammed, Barr. Okechukwu Osuana, Senators Nwogu Olaka and Sandy Onor, Prof. Adenike Ogunse, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, Engr. Deji Doherty, and Dr. Ibrahim Bala Aboki.

The committee has been tasked with running the party’s day-to-day affairs for 60 days, during which all pending congresses are expected to be conducted and a national convention organized.

PDP officials described the move as a strategic step to ensure continuity and orderly transition within the party ahead of key internal elections and upcoming political activities.
