The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the May/June 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), taken by over 1.9 million candidates from more than 23,000 secondary schools across Nigeria.
Announcing the release on Monday, WAEC’s Head of National Office (HNO), Amos Dangut, said the examination body successfully concluded all processes despite facing notable challenges during the conduct of the exams.
“Today, I am happy to announce to you that all the processes leading to the release of the results have been concluded,” Dangut stated during a press briefing.

However, the HNO raised concerns over a sharp decline in overall student performance compared to previous years. According to him, the 2025 results show a 33.8 percent drop in candidate performance, marking one of the most significant year-on-year declines in recent times.
WAEC has made the results accessible online, and candidates are advised to check their performance through the Council’s result portal or via SMS.
