The Katsina State Police Command says it succeeded in rescuing a 70-year-old man and his 40 cows from bandits who kidnapped him from Unguwar Fulani at Barkiya village of Kurfi LGA of the state.

SP Gambo Isah, spokesman of the police command in the state, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the recent achievements of the command.

According to SP Gambo, the armed bandits who attacked the residence of 70 years old Sada Kotoko, stormed the community in large numbers while riding on motorcycles around 1:00 am, shooting sporadically with AK-47 rifles and eventually kidnapped him and carted away 40 of his cattle.

Fortunately for him, the police on receiving the report swiftly swung into action and succeeded in subduing the bandits after a fierce gun duel, rescuing the 70-year-old man and his 40 rustled cows by the hoodlums, adaeventsnews gathered.

Similarly, the Katsina State Police Command also succeeded in arresting a 35-year-old Salisu Halilu of Yar Wafa village in Kurfi LGA of the state.

Salisu is alleged to be among the terrorist informer-cum-kidnapper terrorizing Kurfi, Safana, and Dutsinma LGAs in Katsina.

In the course of the investigation, Salisu confessed to committing the offense and also revealed that he was part of the terrorist gang that kidnapped one Alhaji Ibrahim Bello and did receive a ransom of N100,000 as his own share of the proceed from the kidnapping.

According to Salisu, he has also conspired time to time with one Yellow Auta, who is their ring leader, Babayye, Ado Tsoho, Sanni among other gang members currently at large to rustle over 100 cows belonging to the following: Malan Umme Ali of Dagarawa village, KabiruKabiru of Yar Barza village, Sule and others at Kudawa village of Kurfi LGA.
